Undefeated by the Aztecs and Spanish conquistadors (until a smallpox epidemic introduced by the Spaniards decimated a large portion of the population), the Purepechas are now fighting against cartel-sponsored lumber thieves in Cheran, Michoacan. Once again, the Purepecha’s relentless fighting spirit is repelling unwanted visitors from their land.
